In Super Mario World, it is possible to defeat Ludwig von Koopa extremely easily with a Fire Flower the following way: after entering the boss room, press R in the middle of the room to make the screen scroll right until Ludwig comes into view. This will cause Ludwig’s hitbox to activate, allowing him to be hit by Mario’s fireballs, but not his AI, resulting in him standing there motionlessly until he dies. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)
